A few years ago, a casting director at a networking event asked me what I did for a living. Within seconds, my mouth turned dry at the thought of not knowing how to respond. So, I started with the most sensible reply. “I’m an actress.” I knew I was off to a great start by the way her eyes bounced from the snack table over to me. “Oh really?” she replied.

Unfortunately, my ego took center stage. “I’ve been writing professionally for ten years… I’m also interested in stunts because of my athletic background as a downhill skateboarder… And, I have experience as a content marketer and lifestyle model, having represented brands internationally since I was 18.”

Needless to say, the casting director went back to the snack table. Maybe I should’ve said, “I’m a Millennial and I waste no time living”…

I’m Addy and I’m a multi-hyphenate. What in the *$@* is a “multi-hyphenate”, you ask ? It means my job title has a lot of hyphens in it: writer - actor - downhill skateboarder. I know, it’s a mouthful to say all in one handshake. So, how about we say, ‘storyteller’? Whether I’m performing in front of the camera, or writing content behind it, it all comes back to authentic storytelling. It’s what I know I do well and I do it with my whole adventurous heart.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering what skateboarding has to do with storytelling, just ask any skater about their scars.
